Participants talked to a meeting of social workers about end-of-life care and planning, the role of clinical and mental health professionals in providing guidance and assistance to the terminally ill and their families, and recent debates over end-of-life issues. The focus of their remarks often turned to the Schaivo case in Florida in which the courts, White House, and Congress weighed in on issues facing family members trying to decide the future of Terri Schaivo, who required artificial means to keep alive. Following their remarks they answered questions from the audience. close
