Consumer advocates spoke to reporters about the safety of silicone breast implants and call for improved approval processes by the Food and Drug Administration. They called for a congressional investigation into the process and postponement of any final safety decision until after a complete examination of records relating to a criminal investigation into manufacturers had been conducted. Following their presentation, the advocates responded to questions and comments from the reporters. Then, Sybil Goldrich, a breast cancer survivor, spoke briefly. close
