The fourth hour of the 25th anniversary of viewer calls focused on the year 1983 and various events over the past 25 years in the Middle East. Ms. Geyer talked about U.S. politics and foreign policy, terrorism and the U.S. role in the world, and the recent history of conflict in the Middle East. She also talked about the impact of the call-in format on American politics and responded to questions and comments from viewers.

An interview with 25th anniversary essay contest finalist Scott Gray of Birmingham, Ala., as well as several clips from previous call-in programs were also aired.

The program was part of a 25-hour call-in marathon commemorating 25 years of viewer calls that began with television’s first-ever, regularly scheduled, national viewer call-in program on October 7, 1980, when the 19-month-old network televised a live viewer call-in program from the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. close
