The Senate Judiciary Committee met in executive session to vote on several items including the John Roberts nomination to be Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Senators made 10-minute statements on Judge Roberts' qualifications, their impressions of his testimony before the committee and intended support or opposition to his confirmation before the final vote. The vote was 13 to 5 in favor of confirmation.
