Panelists discussed the process of expressing political opinions. They talked about getting ideas for topics and the type of situations about which they write. They also discussed the reactions of readers. The panelists answered questions from members of the audience. Gail Collins moderated the discussion.

The panelists, all New York Times opinion writers, were: Bob Herbert, author of Promises Betrayed: Waking Up from the American Dream, published by Times Books; Paul Krugman, author of The Great Unraveling: Losing Our Way in the New Century, published by W. W. Norton; and Verlyn Klinkenborg, author of The Rural Life, published by Little, Brown.

This event is part of a day-long celebration of the 70th anniversary of the New York Times bestseller list held in New York City’s Bryant Park. close
