The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee held a hearing on “Kyoto Protocol: Assessing the Status of Efforts to Reduce Greenhouse Gases.” Committee members examined the status of efforts to reduce greenhouse relating to the Kyoto Protocol. Witnesses testified about the Unite Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Amendment that requiring countries that ratify this protocol to commit to reduce their emissions of carbon dioxide and five other greenhouse gases, or engage in emissions trading if they maintain or increase emissions of these gases.
