Price Cobbs talked about his memoir My American Life: From Rage to Entitlement, published by Atria. Dr. Cobbs writes about his experiences with the Great Depression, the Second World War and Jim Crow segregation laws. The author recounts his journey as a black person in America and discusses his feelings of rage and victimhood, which he also wrote about in his 1991 book, Black Rage. He describes the subsequent evolution of his feelings and argues that it is important for blacks to realize that they are entitled to their anger and to consciously rebuild self-worth in order to come to terms with the experience of being black in America. He talked about how he came to write the book and the early memories of what angered him. He answered questions from members of the audience. close
