Participating by telephone, Representative Burgess, a medical doctor and member of the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, spoke about the possible avian flu pandemic. He discussed how there should be a nationwide network for doctors and other first responders to keep track of what’s happening across the states in an emergency such as an avian flu pandemic. Representative Burgess may soon have legislation on this subject.

Washington Journal will focus on the avian flu, the federal government’s role and the international response to a possible pandemic, as well as the stockpiling of flu vaccines. close
