The House Homeland Security Subcommittee held a hearing on preventing and mitigating terrorist attacks. Government officials testified about federal government efforts to secure mass transit systems, office buildings, shopping malls, and other civilian soft targets from potential terrorist attacks.

This panel was a continuation of an early September hearing with a panel from the private sector. The testimony from Department of Homeland Security (DHS) witnesses was postponed due to Hurricane Katrina and the workload of the DHS that ensued. close
