Scott Ritter talked about his book, Iraq Confidential: The Untold Story of the Intelligence Conspiracy to Undermine the UN and Overthrow Saddam Hussein, published by Nation Books. In the book he argued that the Clinton administration, working through the CIA, thwarted the efforts of UN weapons inspectors in Iraq during the 1990s. Mr. Ritter, an inspector for the United Nations between 1991 and 1998, argued that then President Clinton’s real interest in Iraq was not the elimination of weapons of mass destruction but rather regime change. Mr. Ritter discussed these and more recent developments in Iraq with Mr. Hersh. Following their discussion, both men responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.
Scott Ritter is also the author of Endgame: Solving the Iraq Crisis, published by Simon and Schuster, and Frontier Justice: Weapons of Mass Destruction and the Bushwhacking of America, published by Context Books.
Seymour M. Hersh is the author of Chain of Command: The Road from 9/11 to Abu Ghraib, published by HarperCollins. He was awarded the Pulitzer Price for International Reporting in 1970 for his coverage of the My Lai Massacre. close
