Mr. McClellan briefed reporters on a number of issues including policy in Iraq, efforts to combat terrorism, and United Nations reform efforts. He also said that the president intended to announce a replacement for Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan whose term would expire on January 31, 2006. Following his remarks he answered questions from reporters, including questions on the timing of the Federal Reserve chairman announcement, the nomination of Harriet Miers to the U.S. Supreme Court, and investigations into potential White House leaks of confidential information. close
