Mr. Friedman moderated a panel titled “Secret Histories: Uncovering the Past and Influencing the Present” with CBS correspondent Morley Safer and authors who have written book-length exposes. They discussed when reporters were justified in keeping secrets from their editors and when reporters were justified in giving information to the courts. The participants spoke about the Central Intelligence Agency leak investigation. Following their discussion, the panelists responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.
