The U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources held a hearing to receive testimony from the Administration on hurricane recovery efforts related to energy and to discuss energy policy. Secretary Norton testified about the diversification of the nation’s energy supply, damage to facilities along the Outer Continental Shelf, and the proposal to open Artic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) to environmentally responsible oil and gas exploration. Among the topics that Secretary Bodman covered included restoration efforts and energy conservation by customers. The hearing was the fourth held by the committee on the subject. close
