In an oversight hearing, State and local transportation officials from three Gulf Coast States testified on the extent of infrastructure damages and the progress of repairs in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. They spoke about cash-flow issues in their states and the lack of speed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to process reimbursement claims. Chairman Petri talked about the importance to get the economy moving so people could pay their bills. close
