Spike Lee talked about his biography, as told to Kaleem Aftab, Spike Lee: That’s My Story and I’m Sticking to It, published by W. W. Norton. In the book he chronicled his career as a film director. Mr. Lee discussed the inspiration behind some of his most popular films including Jungle Fever, dealing with interracial relationships; Do the Right Thing, an exploration of hate and bigotry on a hot day in Brooklyn; and 4 Little Girls, a documentary about the bombing of an African-American church during the civil rights movement that killed four teenage girls in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963. Mr. Lee also responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. Among the topics he addressed were his life experience, politics, and minorities in the film industry. close
