President Bush announced the reappointment of the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Alan Greenspan to a new four year term as head of the Federal Reserve. President Bush lauded Mr. Greenspan’s performance in the position, and responded to criticism that Mr. Greenspan had retarded economic growth in the U.S. by saying Mr. Greenspan was “strongly committed to growth.” President Bush also nominated Mr. Greenspan to another 14 year term on the Federal Reserve Board. Mr. Greenspan briefly answered questions on international finance from reporters following the president’s remarks. close
