Yanek Mieczkowski spoke about his book Gerald Ford and the Challenges of the 1970s, published by the University Press of Kentucky. Professor Mieczkowski wrote that President Gerald Ford, during his two and a half years in office, understood the intricacies of the national economy better than any other U.S. president. He also noted that the accomplishments of President Ford were more impressive considering the shadow of Watergate that loomed large over the Ford presidency. Following his remarks, Professor Mieczkowski responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.

During his presentation, Professor Mieczkowski showed slides of cartoons depicting then President Ford, the only president who had the opportunity to play professional football, as an athlete. close
