A hearing was held on aviation safety from government officials and from representatives of aviation employee associations. Members of the first panel spoke about observations on the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) oversight, changes in the airline industry, and certification of repair stations outside of the United States. The second panel heard testimony on reducing runway incursions, air traffic control modernization, industry safety record, and maintenance practices. They also discussed the role of repair stations in maintaining the safety and strength of the U.S. Airline industry. close
