British Prime Minister Blair responded to questions and comments from members of his party and the opposition on pension reform, community policing and unemployment. Michael Howard addressed the House of Commons for his last prime minister’s questions as leader of the Conservative Party. He quipped about when Prime Minister Blair himself would step down, saying, “Everyone knows that this is my last appearance at this Dispatch Box. What they want to know is how many more appearances Mr. Blair is going to make at that Dispatch Box.”

Elections for a new Conservative Leader would take place the next Tuesday, December 6, 2005. The new leader will face off with British Prime Minister Tony Blair the next day. close
