Representative Hinchey spoke about the United States policy in Iraq. He discussed President Bush’s speech on Iraq the previous day and his resolution (HRes 549) related to Bush administration documents on pre-war intelligence. He responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.

Later in the day, the House International Relations Committee will mark-up Rep. Hinchey’s resolution requiring the president to present Congress with all drafts and documents related to the crafting of the president’s 2003 State of the Union address and on sources relating to the claim that Iraq was seeking uranium from Africa. It would also require the White House to deliver to Congress all drafts and related documents surrounding an October 7, 2002, speech in Cincinnati, Ohio, in which the president discussed a possible mushroom cloud from an Iraqi nuclear weapon. close
