The attorney general talked about the efforts to combat terrorism and detailed many examples of successful efforts by law enforcement agencies to prevent terrorist attacks during 2005. He also talked about the difficulties of prosecuting terrorists, saying this was why the military used its authority to detain military combatants to prevent their returning to terrorist activities. Other topics included torture and the Abu Ghraib prison and Great Britain’s views about the Iraq War. After his presentation Judge Gonzales answered audience members' questions. close
