Veterans of the Iraq War, two Marines and two California Army National Guardsmen, discussed their experiences. The forum called “Stories from the Frontlines: Young Men and Women Back from Iraq” was moderated by Mr. Stannard. They also answered questions from members of the audience. Topics included media coverage of the war, perceptions of Iraqi citizens, equipment for the military serving in Iraq, care for injured servicemen, and troop morale.
Major Michael Samarov was formerly the operations officer, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines and is now the commanding officer, Marine Corps Recruiting Station, Northern California. Sam Reyes is a lance corporal, U.S. Marine Corps. Lt. Col. Michael Wells is the commanding officer, 250th Military Intelligence Battalion, U.S. Army. Diana Morrison was formerly a California National Guard staff sergeant, formerly a 270th Military Police Company specialist, and is a co-founder of Iraq Veterans Against the War. close
