A panel discussion was held on outlooks on the Middle East for the year 2006. Ambassador Logoglu discussed the conflict in Iraq, the use of democracy to strengthen the role of women, development of nuclear weapons in Iraq, and efforts to combat terrorism. He said that no strategy could eliminate terrorism completely, but “democracy and reform lead to less and less space for terrorists.” Ambassador Wilcox spoke about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. Following their remarks, the panelists responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. Mr. Alexander moderated the panel. Questions were asked from the podium microphone next to the panelists. close
