The Muslim Public Affairs Council held its fifth annual convention titled “Examining Our Role in America.” Chaplain Yee and Mr. Akhter gave the welcoming remarks. Then, Mr. Hathout held a panel discussion on the state of the Muslim-American community. Following the discussion, Ms. Jamil talked about the book In Pursuit of Justice, which she co-wrote with Mr. Hathout.

James Yee, a former U.S. Army Muslim Chaplain at Guantanamo Bay, is the author of For God and Country: Faith and Patriotism Under Fire, published by PublicAffairs. He was accused of treason, imprisoned, and later discharged from the army. Sulayman Nyang is the author of Islam in the United States of America, published by Kazi Publications. The book is a collection of essays written over several years. close
