Jeffrey Richelson talked about his book Spying on the Bomb: American Nuclear Intelligence from Nazi Germany to Iran and North Korea, published by W. W. Norton. The book traces the history of America’s efforts to spy on other nations' nuclear programs. Mr. Richelson discussed the early initiatives such as Moe Berg’s assignment to spy on Werner Heisenberg, a prominent Swedish physicist perceived at the time to be instrumental to the German nuclear program. Mr. Richelson also discussed China’s atomic bomb program in the 1960s, Mao’s role, and the U.S.'s lack of intelligence on the program.
