Ms. Fisher and several other officials announced that the government had reached and agreement with former lobbyist Jack Abramoff in return for a please of guilty to charges of fraud and tax evasion. The plea agreement required Mr. Abramoff to cooperate with further investigations of official corruption and bribery in relation to lobbying efforts for tribal gaming interests. The agreement also required Mr. Abramoff to pay $26.7 million in restitution and taxes, while allowing a sentencing court to consider reduced periods of incarceration. Following their remarks the officials answered questions from reporters. close
