Mr. McClellan announced to reporters that the Department of Health and Human Services would make 733 million dollars available in low-income energy assistance. He also spoke about remarks to be made by the president at the Chicago Board of Trade on December 6. Following his remarks, he responded to questions and comments from the reporters. Among the topics he addressed were the condition of Israel Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the scandal involving former Indian lobbyist Jack Abramoff, the situation in Iraq, and the coalmine disaster in West Virginia. He also talked about President Bush’s meeting with former Secretaries of Defense and State. close
