Richard Haass moderated a panel, titled “A Take on Tehran,” on the prospects of diplomatic efforts to dissuade Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Among the topics the panelists discussed were policy options on all sides to negotiate agreement so that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons; how much Tehran’s position on nuclear weapons is constrained by domestic politics; and whether the international community can encourage Iran to curtail its inflammatory rhetoric and become an anchor of stability in the region. Following their discussion, the panelists responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. close
