Officials testified about mismanagement, cost overruns, and abuses of federal emergency funds for recovery, relief, and reconstruction following the disaster brought on Gulf Coast regions by Hurricane Katrina. Among the examples they gave were misuse of federal emergency payments to disaster recipients, mismanagement in providing housing following the disaster, and poor decisions made by officials in reconstruction planning. close
