Paul Pillar talked about U.S. intelligence policy and the war in Iraq. Mr. Pillar was the CIA National Intelligence Officer for Near East and South Asia from 2000-2005. In a recent article in Foreign Affairs, he argued that during the run-up to the invasion of Iraq, the Bush administration disregarded the intelligence community’s expertise, politicized the intelligence process, and selected unrepresentative raw intelligence to make its public case.
