Richard Carwardine talked about his book Lincoln: A Life of Purpose and Power, published by Knopf in January 2006. This is a new edition of Lincoln, first published in England in 2003, which won the Lincoln Prize in 2004. Mr. Carwardine gave a British perspective of President Lincoln. He talked about Abraham Lincoln’s rise to the presidency and provided background for the political decisions Lincoln made throughout his life. Professor Carwardine also discussed the influences on Lincoln’s thinking, including the role played by religion. close
