Veteran journalists spoke about their personal experiences as reporters and activists during the civil rights movements, and particularly the reception to the movement in the South. Panelists included Chuck Conconi, former journalist with the Washington Post, Jack Nelson, former journalist with the Los Angeles Times, Barbara Reynolds, former columnist for USA Today, Carl Stern, former journalist with NBC News, and Helen Thomas, former UPI White House Correspondent. Following their remarks they answered questions from the audience. close
