The Senate convened and began a period of morning business, during which members addressed the previous day’s actions by Senator Schumer attaching an amendment to lobbying reform legislation that would have negated an agreement between Bush administration officials and Dubai Ports World for control of several assets at U.S. seaports. Later in the day Senator Warner announced that Dubai Ports World had agreed to turn over all assets in the U.S. to a U.S. controlled entity.

The Senate rejected the motion to invoke cloture on S. 2349; Legislative Transparency and Accountability Act of 2006, and did not set a time for its reconsideration by the Senate. close
