Michael Fonte talked about China-Taiwan relations in light of Chinese President Hu Jintao’s visit to the U.S. during the week. Mr. Fonte also talked about Taiwan’s interest in independence, China’s position on Taiwan and the U.S. interest in relations between the two countries. Mr. Fonte represented Taiwan on related issues within the State Department. The Democratic Progressive Party was formed in 1986 and is the ruling party in Taiwan. He also responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. close
