Chairman Dean presided over the general session. After speeches by Senator Landrieu and other dignitaries, a video was shown honoring the late Commerce Secretary Ron Brown who was chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 1989 to 1993. Chairman Dean presented a DNC Resolution to Secretary Brown’s widow Alma and his son Michael. Chairman Dean delivered the keynote address, followed by items of business.
New Orleans was chosen as the site of the meeting to symbolize efforts to help revitalize the economy of the Gulf Coast.
