Telephone lines were open for comments on news of the day and viewer reaction to calls by Latino leaders for a national boycott, called “A Day Without Immigrants,” to show the economic impact of immigrants on the U.S. economy.

The program began with a telephone interview with Dylan Kurth on his prize-winning entry in the C-SPAN StudentCam contest. The video was titled, Hate Without a Home, and focused on violence against the homeless. It was produced by Dylan Kurth and Jeremy Mishali, 12th grade students at Nova High School in Davie, Florida. The video was one of the third place winners in a national competition in which middle and high school students produced a documentary exploring a current political topic using some C-SPAN footage and covering multiple viewpoints.

Mr. Curran spoke about political issues on Capitol Hill and Mr. Rodarte spoke about the business perspective on the national immigrant boycott. close
