Peter Hessler talked about his book Oracle Bones: A Journey Between China’s Past and Present, published by HarperCollins. He derived the title from an archaeological site in China where the earliest form of writing was found inscribed on shells and bones. He compared modern day China to its past, including reading letters from young Chinese students who migrated from the countryside to the rapidly growing cities. After his presentation he answered audience members' questions. close
