President Bush welcomed Prime Minister Olmert to the White House for the first time since his election. They talked to reporters about relations between the U.S. and Israel, the future of Middle East peace negotiations, and security in the region. President Bush reserved judgment on the specifics of any geographical “realignment” plan but called the concepts “bold ideas” and expressed satisfaction that the new Israeli leader would first make a serious attempt to craft an agreement with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. They both answered questions from reporters. close
