Wendell Rawls talked about privately funded congressional travel. The previous day the Center for Public Integrity released a report that found members of Congress and their aides, over a 5 1/2 year period ending in 2005, took more than 23,000 trips, valued at nearly $50 million, which were financed by corporations, trade associations and nonprofit groups with business on Capitol Hill. He responded to audience telephone calls and electronic mail. close
