David Slavitt talked about his book Blue State Blues: How a Cranky Conservative Launched a Campaign and Found Himself the Liberal Candidate (and Still Lost), published by Wesleyan University Press. The book was about his 2004 campaign for the Massachusetts State Legislature against a long-time Democratic incumbent in a predominantly Democratic district. In his remarks he reflected on his candidacy, the two-party system, and the rigors of a political campaign. He also talked about his stances as a pro-life advocate and favoring same sex unions. Following his remarks he answered questions from the audience.

This event was part of the Yale University Reunion Weekend where Mr. Slavitt was attending his 50th reunion. close
