The annual First Person Arts Festival featured the works of two web loggers about the war in Iraq. Mr. Buzzell and Ms. El-Shamayleh read selections from memoirs and then answered questions from the audience. Peter Lems moderated the discussion.

Mr. Buzzell is the author of My War: Killing Time in Iraq, published by Putnam. Mr. Buzzell, who served with the U.S. Army in Iraq for one year, started a web log while stationed there in 2004.

Ms. El-Shamayleh, a graduate student at New York University, presented the work of an Iraqi blogger. Riverbend is the author of the book Baghdad Burning: Girl Blog from Iraq, published by The Feminist Press at CUNY. Riverbend is the pseudonym of a Baghdad-based computer programmer in her twenties who began reporting on the war in August 2003.
