Etan Thomas and Anthony Arnove talked about the war in Iraq and the politics of the Bush administration. Mr. Thomas, who plays center for the Washington Wizards basketball team, is the author of a book of political poetry titled More than an Athlete: Poems by Etan Thomas, published by Moore Black Press. During the event he recited two of his poems from the book, one about conservative politics and another about the Bush administration’s justification for the invasion of Iraq. Anthony Arnove is the author of Iraq: The Logic of Withdrawal, published by New Press. He argued that the U.S. should withdraw troops from Iraq immediately despite the question of civil war, the character of the Iraqi resistance, and the U.S. goal of establishing democracy. Both authors answered questions from members of the audience following their remarks. close
