Mr. Alter talked about his book, The Defining Moment: FDR’s Hundred Days and the Triumph of Hope, published by Simon and Schuster. In his book Mr. Alter chronicles Franklin Roosevelt’s candidacy, from his election and through his transition to president. He describes how President Roosevelt rescued banks after mass bank closures, put men to work, and revolutionized mass communication with pioneering press conferences and the first fire side chat. He explained that President Franklin Roosevelt, during his first one hundred days in office, laid the foundation for national recovery after the Great Depression. After his presentation Mr. Alter responded to audience members' questions.

The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum hosted the Roosevelt Reading Festival III in the Henry A. Wallace Visitor and Education Center. Authors of recently published works that drew upon the Roosevelt Library archives presented author talks. close
