Ambassador Bolton testified about his nomination as the administration’s ambassador to the United Nations. He had held the position through a recess appointment since August 2005. Among the topics addressed were U.S. efforts to build international cooperation on policies regarding North Korea, the current crisis Middle East, operations in Iraq, and continued controversy over Ambassador Bolton’s leadership style. The hearing ended after three hours of testimony when a water leak from the ceiling forced participants to move from their seats.

At times the hearing was presented in a split screen format to show both the witness and member during questions from the committee. close
