Rory Stewart talked about two of his books, The Places in Between, published by Harvest Books, and The Prince of the Marshes: And Other Occupational Hazards of a Year in Iraq, published by Harcourt. The first book tells of his 16-month, 600-mile walk across Afghanistan only a few months after the Taliban were deposed. The second book recounts his tenure as a British diplomat in Iraq and his term of governorship in Iraq after Saddam Hussein was deposed. He described meeting tribal elders, teenage soldiers, Taliban commanders, foreign-aid workers, and Saddam Hussein. After his presentation he responded to audience members' questions. close
