Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans on August 29, 2005. One year later, President Bush visited the city to meet with locals and see the rebuilding efforts. His first stop was at Betsy’s Pancake House. There he had breakfast with Mayor Ray Nagin and General Russel Honore.

Among events that afternoon, President Bush attended a service at Saint Louis Cathedral commemorating the first anniversary of the hurricane. After the mass, Norman Francis, chairman of the Louisiana Recovery Authority, addressed the congregation.

Later, President Bush met with legendary musician and New Orleans resident Fats Domino. His publishing office in the Lower Ninth Ward was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina and many of his awards were lost in the flood.

Towards the end of his trip to New Orleans, President Bush met with workers at Habitat for Humanity close
