Physicians for Social Responsibility announced their report evaluating the effects of nuclear terrorism scenarios in the United States, and U.S. readiness for attacks. They said the Department of Homeland Security is ill-prepared, and they made recommendations for new federal policies to better protect the public from death and injuries. After their presentations the participants responded to reporters' questions.

Dr. Helfand co-wrote the book, The U.S. and Nuclear Terrorism: Still Dangerously Unprepared. Dr. Redlener wrote the book, Americans at Risk. close
