Former Iranian President Khatami spoke to reporters in the National Cathedral. Later in the day he made an address in the cathedral. He talked about the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and the need for stability in the Middle and Near East. Following his brief remarks he answered questions from the reporters a bout a variety of issues including Iranian politics, Iranian nuclear development, and relations between Iran and the U.S.
