Professor Barnett talked about two abortion cases being heard in oral argument before the U.S. Supreme Court later in the month. On October 31, 2006, the Court would consider the constitutionality of the 2003 Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act, which made late-term abortion a crime unless a woman’s life is a stake, but without an exception for the health of the mother. The cases were Gonzales v. Carhart and Gonzales v. Planned Parenthood. He also responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. close
