Mr. Thurber moderated a discussion on the results of primary elections and the potential outcomes of the midterm elections in November. It was noted that there are many more “competitive” congressional seats this year than in 2004. Topics included redistricting, the predominantly Republican South, President Bush’s popularity numbers, incumbency, campaign fundraising, and the resignation of Florida Rep. Mark Foley. After their presentations the participants responded to audience members' questions. close
